Thirty-year veteran percussionist Sammy DeLeon and his crew love sharing the history and characteristics of their music with audiences.
Latin jazz, salsa and merengue – the latter originating in the Dominican Republic – comprise a highly danceable set led by DeLeon, once described by Latin music legend Tito Puente as “the hottest and most innovative timbalero.”

He studied under the principal flutist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
His interest in jazz came in the ‘80’s as he toured internationally with Bob James and his band. Zonjic has been recording for over 3 decades with his eclectic jazz blend and other music genres.

Rockin’ on the Riverfront will be held Friday nights from 7:30-10 p.m.

Admission to the concerts is always free and no tickets are necessary.
Viewing space is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, but outside food, beverages and coolers are not permitted.
Boaters on the Detroit River are welcome to anchor near the riverfront and enjoy the shows from the water.
Andiamo Detroit Riverfront will provide refreshments and food concessions .
Convenient parking is available for $5 per vehicle, starting at 5 p.m., at the GM surface lot at the intersection of St. Antoine and Atwater streets, adjacent to the GM Renaissance Center.
The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center is offering package during the concerts.
